Buckhead Green Space by the Numbers: Chastain Park and PATH400

Buckhead is known for Peachtree Road's towers and the shopping at Lenox Square and Phipps Plaza, but some of its most-loved spots are green. Here are the numbers.
Chastain Park.
| Fact | Figure |
|---|---|
| Size | 268 acres |
| Rank | Second-largest park in the City of Atlanta |
| Opened | 1940, as North Fulton Park |
| Renamed | Chastain Memorial Park, September 25, 1946 |
| PATH loop | 3.92 miles, paved, in two main loops |
| Golf | 18 holes, originally built with WPA labor |
| Amphitheater | First concert in 1944 |
The park also has tennis courts, a horse park and the Chastain Arts Center, which occupies a former almshouse building.
PATH400. This greenway follows the GA-400 corridor through the heart of Buckhead. When complete, it will run about 5.2 miles from Loridans Drive at the Dunwoody line south to the Atlanta BeltLine's Peachtree Creek spur trail. Buckhead CID, Livable Buckhead and the PATH Foundation partner on the project, and sections continue to open in stages.
Shopping anchors. Lenox Square and Phipps Plaza sit diagonally across from each other at Peachtree and Lenox Roads. Together they hold most of Buckhead's high-end boutiques and six major department stores.
Take it from Mary: homes near the Chastain PATH loop or a PATH400 access point are a frequent request. Tell me which trail you'd use most, and I'll focus the search there.
A note on the numbers: every figure in this post is a good-faith estimate taken from the sources below as of the date it was posted. Figures aren't exact and can change, so please do your own research and confirm anything important with the official source before relying on it.
